Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police in Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

However, these are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to fictional magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
