Fraud Alert: Fake Authorities Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they wanted money, no longer shows themselves.
