Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, disappears.
