Garda Hoteliers Targeted by Scammers Impersonating Carabinieri

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to Recognize Scams

They often present subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, tend to disappear.
