Scammers Impersonate Law Enforcement in Garda Phone Call Scams
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions associated with the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.
Recognizing the scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, stops appearing.
