Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal authorities.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
