Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Hospitality and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

Recognizing Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, disappear and are no longer visible.
