Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
