Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Phone Calls Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to armed magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, disappear completely.
