Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Region to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they wanted money, would no longer appear in person.
