Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often promote subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those entirely unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals

who, if they demand money, tend to disappear without a trace.
