Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police forces.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
