Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses and Cancel Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear completely.
