Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They break into Carabinieri when making phone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military publications.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) fire service.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have money, disappears entirely.
