Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Offer Fraudulent Magazine Subscriptions
They break into Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, beware and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,
has money, and then disappears.
