Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners
They break out in Carabinieri when trying to contact hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda by phone, proposing subscriptions to army-related magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they needed money, no longer show themselves.
