Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are cracking down on Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to soldiers’ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but impostors who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

would take money and then disappear.
