Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as there is a suspicion that you have become a target of those who,
