Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Business Owners in Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but disappears once the scam is uncovered.
