Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

who seek money, disappear without a trace.
