Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These individuals are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often promote subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer makes themselves visible.
