Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not members of the military; rather, they are scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
