Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

claim to have money but then disappear.
