Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Region Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money but no longer shows themselves.
