Fake Carabinieri Scammers Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
