Scam Alert: Carabinieri Impersonators Targeting Garda Businesses

The Carabinieri impersonators are calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, cease all contact and disappear.
