Carabinieri Impersonators Scamming Garda Region Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

claim to have money and then disappear.
