Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
