Fraudsters Impersonate Authorities to Scam Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
