Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
