Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military-related magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) authorities.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, disappear and are no longer visible.
