Garda-area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but no longer makes an appearance.
