Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel managers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,

having money, disappears without a trace.
