Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, disappear and can no longer be seen.
