Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Calling Garda Region, Avoid Fraud

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to arm force magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance civil service, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
