Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal Police).

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they are after money, no longer makes themselves visible.
