Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shop Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These individuals are not members of the military but are scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune vigilantes.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer make themselves visible.
