Garda Region Scam: Fake Carabinieri Offer Fake Law Magazines

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda region, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal officers.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer show their face.
