Phone Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Area, Warns Carabinieri

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri—just dial 112—at the first sign that you have been targeted by individuals who,
