Phone scam alert: Fake Carabinieri impersonators target Garda businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target of those who,

having money, no longer show themselves.
