Scam Callers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scam artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire department, or the Municipal police.

Detecting scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear.
