Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Local Businesses

They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or to the Comune municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

with money in mind, ceases to appear.
