Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer shows themselves.
