Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contact with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

withhold money, and then disappear.
