Garda Scam Alert: Impersonators Posing as Police SeekSubscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, general police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer seen.
