Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by someone who,

if holding money, no longer appears.
