Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
