Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money, and then disappears.
