Garda Scam Alert: Beware Fake Police Calls Offering Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
