Scammers Pose as Police to Target Garda Businesses and Customers

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to police-related magazines.

These are not actual officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

ask for money, and then disappear.
